ITEKMA materials for cryogenic temperatures

JSC INUMiT manufactures a composite cryogenic tank without the use of an autoclave.

The cryogenic tank is manufactured from B180 prepreg using the automated tape lay-up (ATL) method. These products are used in the aerospace industry for storing liquid fuel. The use of PCM in structures reduces weight, allowing for an increased payload on the launch vehicle.

B180 autoclave-free prepreg exhibits excellent strength, crack resistance, and resistance to ultra-low temperatures. The experimental cryogenic fuel tank prototype ensures a leak-proof seal at liquid nitrogen temperatures and an internal pressure of 7.5 atm.
