Carbon tapes are a fabric in which the fibers are arranged in one direction, made from carbon fiber and used as a reinforcing filler in the production of composite materials.
Carbon fiber tapes are fabrics in which the fibers are arranged in a single direction. They are made from carbon fiber and are used as a reinforcing filler in the production of composite materials. Carbon fiber has a specific strength 8-17 times higher than steel, aluminum, and titanium, and a modulus of elasticity 5-13 times higher. The coefficient of thermal expansion of carbon fiber is 15-20 times lower than that of steel and aluminum. The high heat resistance of carbon fibers allows them to be used as thermal insulation and heat shields: up to 2000°C in an inert atmosphere and up to 450°C in air. Carbon fiber has good corrosion resistance to gaseous and liquid environments compared to steel.
Carbon tapes have superior mechanical properties in the grain direction compared to fabrics due to the absence of kinks during weaving. Therefore, carbon tapes are suitable for load-bearing structures subject to high loads in one direction, such as aircraft wing spars.
Advantages:
It is possible to manufacture tapes with a width from 100 to 1500 mm;
It is possible to produce tape with a density of 90-600 g/ m2 .
